Complaint to Forest Officer about illegal felling

As the Sarpanch of your village, write a letter to the District Forest Officer drawing his attention to illegal felling of trees from the forest under your jurisdiction. Request him for deployment of additional security guards for the forest.

Sub: Complaint about illegal cutting of trees and request for more forest guards

Sir,

I am Sangram Singh, the Sarapanch of Ghasaria village in West Nimar district. I need to draw your attention to the continued illegal felling of trees from the Ghasaria forest coming under the jurisdiction of our Panchayat.

As you are aware, the Ghasaria forest measuring 500 hectares comes under Ghasaria Panchayat. I am alarmed to find that unauthorized people are cutting trees from this forest and taking them away. This activity has increased in the last six months. In the last three months, we have lost 10 Sal tress, 12 Teak trees and 40 Bamboo trees. This is a huge loss to our Panchayat. As it appears, the thieves are getting bolder and bolder with time. These days, they are coming with their trucks and gang of musclemen even during day time. The two forest guards deployed by your department are powerless before such organized thugs. Even, we villagers are hesitant to confront them as they carry arms. The big and beautiful forest, pride of our district, is denuded because of this. Our Panchayat is losing revenue also.

I, therefore, request you to take immediate and forceful action to check this menace. Our villagers are willing to give you any assistance you might need to nab these organized gangs. Additionally, we request you to depute at least six more forest guards to bolster the present force of just two guards.
