Reuters.. Reuters is a very big and famous news agency who have agents in every corner of the world. Whenever any incident happens anywhere, the nearest Reuters agent rushes to the place and collects the news besides taking photos of the area. Later, the head office of Reuters checks the report and sells it to hundreds of newspapers and TV channels in different countries. Since Reuters gives only correct and doubly verified news, it is trusted by people throughout the world. Because of such strictly correct reporting, Reuters has become so famous.

Usher as verb .. When the chief minister came on a visit to our school, our headmaster respectfully ushered him from the main gate.

Kibbutz-  It is the name of a very different type of village in Israel. In a Kibbutz, villagers live almost like a joint family. They do farming and harvesting together. They cook and eat together. Whenever any one falls sick or faces any difficulty, the whole Kibbutz comes out to help them. This is why, Kibbutz’s are very happy and prosperous places. Kibbutzs are unique to Israel. Ultimately – It means ‘Finally’. In the Mahabharat War, The Kauravas led by Duryodhana had a far bigger army than that of the Pandavas. However, the Pandavas had the strong backing of Lord Krishna. The war went on for days resulting in many fatalities in either side. Towards the final stage, Bhima took on Duryodhana in a deadly fight. The duel proved to be fatal for Duryodhana. After his death, the Pandavas emerged victorious. Ultimately, ‘Dhama’ won and ‘Adharma’ was defeated.

Interim – It means some action taken for having immediate effect. Cyclone Fani caused massive destruction to coastal Odisha. In Paradip, so many fishing trawlers and boats were destroyed by the storm. Responding to the trawler and boat owners’ frantic call for help, the government gave Rs.5 lakh to each trawler  owner and Rs.1 lakh to each boat owner as interim relief, so that they could start their repair work. The minister assured them that more compensation will be given to them after they complete their repair work and submitted their final bills.

Buffer– The district collector asked his  officers to stock 10 tons of wheat and 30  tons of rice in a government godown. The idea was to  create a buffer stock so that in case of any natural calamity like flood, cyclone etc. food relief can be immediately rushed to the affected people without waiting for central assistance to come from far-off states.

Retreat as verb – It means ‘going back’. It seems the Ukrainian army is retreating from its position being unable to face Russian army’s onslaught.

Retreat as noun.  It means ‘a peaceful place’. Many Sadhus and Sanths go to the lonely retreats in the Himalayas.
